Do we know more about the world now? Definetly not
That is something that we realize everyday. News on TV and newspaper do not cover a representative sample of the world. In this way some countries, or even important events are just undermined. The following video is a short presentation of about 5 minutes on what news americans watch. The scaled-map used says a lot on the type of monitorised global village big media corporations live in.
In the present moment is Haiti, but will Haiti still exist in two months? Anyone knows anything about Darfur today? Maybe a couple of thousand refugees were slothered. Hunger in Sierra Leon?, Daily lapidations in Saudi Arabia? Impressive development in Vietnam? Guerrilla in Nepal?
Who really counts on news?
Enjoy the video

INDIA´S PROSPECTS //IDEAS//
Here I attach an interesting video on a presentation given by Nandan Nilekani about india´s projection. The talk is vertebrated around the ideas taking root on India´s developmet.
Ideas that arrived:
1- PEOPLE. From a burden to an empowering item. Due to an important demographic dividend, India will be the only young country in an ageing world. This is only good if there is investment on that human capital
2-ENTREPENEURS, FROM VILLAINS TO ROLE MODELS. Due to the past and the current cast system, India saw entrepeneurs as vultures, today that is seen as a mean to get out of povertry
3-ATTITUDE TOWARDS ENGISH LANGUAGE. English has gone from an imperial language to an important asset.
4- TECHNOLOGY- From being an enemy of labour and the human to become an epowering gadget of develpment.
5- DEEPENING OF DEMOCRACY.
IDEAS IN PROGRESS (not arrived yet, hard to implement)
1- PUBLIC EDUCATION. Still an aspiration.
2- INFRASTUCTRE. In the past, the targets were food/clothing/shelter, now is electricity/water/roads.
3-CITIES. India is still predominatly rural. Urbanization was an imperial element, but now is consider an important point for globalization.
4- INDIA AS A SINGLE MARKET. Being a federation, India´s economy is still marked by regionalization, the targeting idea is to structure the second most important internal market in the world.
IDEAS IN CONFLICT(not resolved yet)
1- IDEOLOGICAL CLEAVAGE- caste system, left out people.
2-LABOUR POLICIES- 93% of the population stil in the informal sector.
3-HIGHER EDUCATION- Still rigid, government control does not help to make it really universal.
IDEAS OF ANTICIPATION 1-TECHNOLOGY IN INDIA IS MORE ADVANCED THAN IN THE REST OF THE WORLD (mainly software). INDIA SHOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS APPLYING SOFTWARE
2- SOCIAL SECURITY/PENSION SYSTEM. INDIA SHOULD ENTITLE ITS CITIZENSHIP WITH THOSE RIGHTS.
WHY IS THIS RELEVANT TO NON-INDIAnS? INDIA IS 1/6 OF THE WORLD CONCILIATE DEMOCRATY WITH GROWTH THE GROWH OF INCOME PER CAPITA IN THE LAST 7 YEARS IS 5 TIMES. THANKS.
